Having graduated from DIT with a degree in Environmental Design, Maeve Sookram has worked as a designer for over thirty years. During that time, she continued her academic interest in design by studying the History of Irish Art and Architecture at Trinity College, Dublin and was an active participant in Advanced Pottery Techniques, Dublin VEC for many years. Through these and other courses she has developed and broadened her skills, producing exhibition and commissioned pieces. She was Secretary of Sculpture in Context from 1996 to 2000 and has exhibited at a large number of national sculptural events. An MA in Design History and Material Culture in NCAD has given Maeve new inspiration for her work.

Maeve works from a fully equipped modern studio at 10 Main Street, Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny. Along side the commercial business Maeve runs night classes along with tailor-made weekend workshops. The studio can cater for up to twelve people and provides lunch on a day course.

The studio is on the old N8 Dublin- Cork Road, and minutes from Junction 4 on the M8 Motorway exit and open by appointment. If you are looking for a fun group activity, ceramics might be the answer, email us for details.
